The 10 French Francs Napoleon is a French gold coin created by the first consul Napoleon Bonaparte on March 28, 1803. With a value of 10 francs, it weighs 3.2g for 2.9g of 'pure 24-carat gold.
On the obverse: Being one of the first gold coins to be struck under the Second Empire, we find on the coin the inscriptions “Napoleon III Emperor” written around the profile of the emperor under which is the signature of the engraver Barre.
On the reverse: We find its value, 10 Gold Francs as well as the year of minting surrounded by an oak wreath. We also find the inscriptions “French Empire” and a letter corresponding to the place of manufacture at the bottom of the gold coin.
The 10 Francs Gold is an investment coin and not necessarily collectible, the effigies and the years of issue therefore have no impact on their purchase or resale value.
